Who’s getting the new iPhone then?

Apple have announced that the latest version of iPhone, called 3gs will be made available exclusively through o2 in the uk from June 19th.

The iPhone will feature:

- faster processor
- improved battery life
- 3 mega pixel camera with auto focus
- video recording & editing
- voice memo recorder
- built-in compass
- 16gb and 32gb models available
- new spotlight search feature

Looking on o2’s website they have listed the tarrifs available and the costs involved with purchasing the new piece of kit. Compared to other phones they’re expensive, but the prices are pretty much in line withthe rates they charged for the 3g model last year.

So, will you be getting one? I’m still undecided at present as I love my N95 8gb phone a lot.

Mass Effect for iPhone – First Images

This story was originally broken by Know Your Mobile.

Mass-Effect-iPhoneThe first images of Mass Effect, currently being developed for iPhone and published by EA have been leaked and are displayed here right in this very post for your viewing pleasure.

Dubbed Jacob’s Story, Mass Effect for iphone  is said to be a kind of prologue to upcoming Mass Effect 2 that will be released for Xbox 360 and PC in the future.

As can be seen (just about) in the screen shot the game is a top-down 2d style shooter with nicely cartoony hand-drawn cut scenes.

Mass Effect will  launch in the App Store within iTunes at a date to be confirmed. However, a price of £1.79 is hotly tipped as being the amount you’ll need to part with to experience the couple of hours gameplay the title will provide.

Max Payne 3, New iPhone in June oooh so exciting

maxpayne Its only day 1 of GDC and already some exciting news has been broken. Max Payne 3 coming to 360/PS3/PC this winter – AWESOME and AT&T has almost confirmed the announcement of a new iPhone coming in June 09.

Max Payne 1 & 2 were both awesome games and whilst the movie sucked ass MASSIVELY, the prospect of returning to Max’s world in a gaming environment fills us with excitement. Question is, how will Max survive in today’s game space? Simply having the bullet time effect is not enough now. It’s been done too many times in other games, not to mention in 2 previous Max Payne titles. We’ll be keeping a very close eye on this game as we look forward to the snowy bit of the year when the game will finally be on store shelves.

Moving on, I want an iPhone (as I announced on last week’s podcast) and the fact that Apple will probably be making a new one available this year means suddenly I want one a lot sooner than I thought I would. In reality I will not end up getting one at release, but I can feel pretty confident when I say that we’ll be treated to record breaking sales again for this device, just as we were for the 2 previous iterations of it.

iPhone and iPod Touch have both established themselves as serious gaming platforms and with the recent announcement from Apple themselves of firmware 3.0 and big name franchises like Metal Gear Solid and Time Crisis moving onto the portable device things are looking hyper rosey (and mega stylish) for the makers of the world’s coolest mobile.

If this is what the first half of day 1 has brought us, wtf will we be like by the end of the week?
