People at gaming conventions

Posted by Rob

A shot of the crowd at play.com liveOk, ok I’m just as nerdy as the next man when it comes to games. I crack jokes about frame rates being as low as the undoctored Killzone 2 footage and find it amusing to constantly reference the original Dizzy games when talking about Codemasters. However, what I don’t get is the game nerds who will step over a fallen granny to try the new Lego titles or Soul Calibur IV. I mean come on guys, its good but it ain’t worth losing your cool over.

Ok, so today we all went down to Wembley Stadium for the Play.com live event. It was a fun day out, but the event itself didn’t live up to our expectations. Many of the games that were advertised as being featured at the event were simply there in video form and even these were old videos readily available on Xbox Live and PSN as well as the web in general.

However, I did manage to get in to the Far Cry 2 demo, which was very very impressive even though the build they were showing was from November 2007. During this demonstration the game’s producer confirmed that the game is being developed for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and the console versions would be the exact same game as the PC, not a cheap semi-port like the original Far Cry.
