Come on Capcom, give us the Wii-make of the Resi Game we really want

So Capcom have announced a bunch of new (old) Resident Evil games coming to Wii, these include a new on-rails shooter called Resident Evil: Dark Chronicles (the sequel to last years Umbrella Chronicles) and 2 remakes; the original Resident Evil and the prequel, Resident Evil Zero. Both games will be the same as the Gamecube remakes, but with Wii controls.

Whilst I’m quite intrigued with the thought of revisiting the Spencer Mansion once again we all know that the game that everyone wants Capcom to remake for Wii is Resident Evil 2. I’d be infinitely more excited about tackling the multiple stories in Resi 2 in glorious Wii-o-Vision and it would be for me (and I suspect a lot of other resi fans) a day one must buy.

Resident Evil 2 was without doubt the best of the original trilogy and whilst  the new game, Dark Chronicles will be set in Racoon City and the main characters being Leon and Claire, an on-rails ‘light-gun-with-a-wii-remote-instead’ game is NOT what we’re looking for.

Capcom – we have spoken. Heed our words (please).

C64 tiltes now on virtual console

    Posted by Ian

The C64 channel has now been released to the world via the gift of Nintendo’s Virtual Console.

The first two games for the new channel appeared today and are the previously announced Uridium (a horizontal, super smooth side scrolling shooter) and International Karate, the legendary kung-fu fighting game by Archer Mclean. I remember both C64 games fondly, and International Karate has some fantastic music

Both titles will set you back 500 Wii points (about £3.50).

In addition to these titles, Cruis ‘n  from the N64 has also been released. The normal costings for an N64 title apply here i.e. 1000 points (£7.50 in real money).

Peter Moore: EA Sports working on 8 Wii titles

Peter MoorePeter Moore, the guy in charge of EA Sports has confirmed that the company are working on no less than 8 new titles for the Wii.

In his March 14th update on his blog he said:

” I’ve seen speculation the past few days about the comments we’ve made recently about new IP coming this year from EA SPORTS. While we’re still a couple of months away from any official new game announcements, I’m encouraged by the interest and excitement. As I’ve said many times over the past few months, as EA SPORTS looks to expand our brand and capture new audiences, developing new intellectual property – such as FaceBreaker and future unlicensed titles – will be a key component of that strategy. As an extension to those comments, and coming fresh out of our sku plan reviews of last week, I can tell you we now have EIGHT titles in development for the Wii, testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA SPORTS games, no matter their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller. “

With it’s unique method of control the Wii is perfectly suited to sports games, but so far most of the titles have been lacklustre (with the exception of Wii Sports of course). Hopefully EA will deliver something fresh and new to play on our Nintendo consoles.

    Facebreaker does look awesome…
