CHARITY GAMERS
We always enjoy receiving email from people telling us they like our show. We received a rather special email recently from Ryan Hemhauser of Charity Gamers. We felt Ryan’s story was so amazing that we wanted to promote his site and cause right here on the TGP website.
Charity Gamers are based in the USA and run gaming tournaments for individuals and teams to help raise money for various charities.
“Charity Gamers was first an idea to make a difference using video games. I lost my Mom to Lung Cancer when I was 16. After that I was devastated and went to the one thing that made me happy, Halo 2. I would play for hours and hours. until one day my cousin said “Get off that darn Xbox and do something productive” Now I didn’t want to get off the Xbox but did want to do something productive.
After that I gathered some friends and organized a Halo 3 tournament in honor of my Mom. We raised 1600 dollars for the American Cancer Society. After this I created Charity Gamers. Charity Gamers are gamers that wanted to make a difference in the world. We set up more tournaments, we put teams into other tournaments all in the hope of making a difference in the world doing what we do best, Play video games.
Charity Gamers has now turned into a group of gamers that organize events to raise money for different charities with the help of the gaming world.”
